"West End Girls" is a song released in 1984 by English synth-pop duo Pet Shop Boys. Written by Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, the song was released twice as a single. The song's lyrics are concerned with class and the pressures of inner-city life. It's re-issue in 1985 reached number 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100, US Dance Club Songs (Billboard) and US Cash Box Top 100 Singles, as well as the UK Singles Chart and number 1 across Europe and beyond.
