Roadblock is a song written and produced by Stock Aitken Waterman. More used to writing for others, "Roadblock" is their first release as artists in their own right. Initially written as an answer to the critics who said all SAW songs sounded the same, it was released anonymously at first and gained rave reviews in some of the more trendy music press who normally derided any SAW release. It went on general release in July 1987 and eventually peaked at number 13 spending 9 weeks on the chart.
